2 Colour Infrared Detectors - InSb/HgCdTe
InfraRed Associates, Inc. offers InSb/HgCdTe two colour infrared detectors for both commercial and military applications.
These detectors are constructed in the form of a sandwich and respond to different buy adjacent regions of the infrared spectrum.
The InSb/HgCdTe two colour sandwich has the top layer of InSb responding from 1µ to 5.5µ and the lower element of HgCdTe responds from 5.5µ to 125.µ.

HgCdTe Infrared Detectors
InfraRed Associates Inc. offer a complete line of photoconductive Mercury cadmium Telluride (HgCdTe) detectors.
The wavelength response can be varied by adjusting the alloy composition of this ternary compound.


The FTIR series of HgCdTe detectors are designed to achieve optimum performance in the Fourier Transform Infrared spectrometers.
The detectors offer the highest sensitivities with cut-offs ranging form 750 to 400cm-¹.

InSb Infrared Detectors
The photovoltaic Indium Antimonide detectors offered by InfraRed Associates, Inc., are p-n junctions formed by mesa techniques using crystal material.
The InSb detectors exhibit excellent electro-optical performance in the 1µm to 5.5µm wavelength region and are suitable for a range of commercial and military applications.

Mid-Infrared/Far-Infrared Detectors
Special classes of solid-state detectors for very specific applications are Mercury Cadmium Telluride devices.These devices can be manufactured with varying stochiometries to yield detectors that can be sensitive to very long wave infrared radiation.

These devices enable the detection of infrared radiation with relatively high efficiencies. However, due to internal mechanisms these devices are heavily susceptible to high surrounding temperatures.
Cooling to liquid nitrogen temperature will negate much of these effects.
Available in both single channel and multi-channel versions, a host of applications can be covered. Consider for instance the use of MCT-detectors in absorption spectroscopy, 2-D vibrational spectroscopy and ultrafast pump-probe spectroscopy.

Especially with certain types of spectroscopy, it can be beneficial to have a two-line array.
