The common Beam Splitters are used to split or combine laser beam. However Polarization Beam Splitters are used to split or combine two perpendicular polarization laser beam.
The performance of Beam Splitters is mainly dependent on the coating specifications.

Combiners are ideal for applications where diode lasers are being used for system alignment. Designed for used at 45 degree, they transmit the 10.6um beam and align it with the 90 degree reflected diode beam.

Output Couplers are used primarily within a laser cavity to assure precise generation and control over the laser's energy (power) and beam shape (mode).
When used in industrial CO2 lasers, output couplers return a percentage of the laser's total energy to the laser cavity, and transmit the balance outside the laser to be used for applications such as cutting, welding and heat treating.
